A surgical solution you can live with
Of all of the people who suffer from hemorrhoid symptoms in the United States, nearly all find relief with treatments that don’t involve major surgery. By modifying diet, adjusting defecation patterns, and using one or another of the great variety of medications available, almost all hemorrhoid sufferers find prolonged periods of time when they are troubled minimally or not at all by their condition. Occasional flares of pain, bleeding, or prolapse can be controlled, and surgery need not be considered.

If hemorrhoid symptoms are severe and persistent, as they are in about 10% of people with this condition, a surgical approach may be the best option for relief. Until recently the surgical treatment of hemorrhoids was something to be avoided at almost any cost, and rightly so. The pain and debilitation caused by traditional hemorrhoid surgery was enough to give even the most stoic and courageous individual second thoughts.

Since 2003, CRL Surgical Associates has been able to offer a surgical procedure for hemorrhoids which is just as effective as the traditional hemorrhoidectomy, but which much less painful. Stapled hemorrhoidectomy is also associated with a much shorter recovery time than with the older method, yet offers the same, if not better, outcomes.

If you are one of the few patients whose hemorrhoid problems are not being controlled by non-surgical means, this may be an alternative worth considering.
